About Me

About me?! Why yes, why not? It's my blog after all... right? Right. In that case why did I call it ExcelMarco? I'll get to that in a moment. First, allow me to tell you a little about myself.

I attended Venice High School, Santa Monica College, UCLA and have a degree in History. Despite my liberal arts education, I began work in the IT world where I soon learned to like computers. I went on to become a Technical Specialist for a large firm and eventually became a Business Analyst. This means I work with computers all day long. We perform analysis of data. Data can be in text, numbers, dates, etc. Knowing how to use Excel is key in my job.

I enjoyed teaching others so much that I wanted to take it a step further and in 2003 I went back to school at UC Dominguez Hills. There I was trained to be an adult educator. I received my California Partial Adult Teaching Credential in Computer Science. Because I didn't complete the hours required, I didn't get the full credential; however, at work I used what I had learned and have been training systems users ever since as part of the training stage of the Software Development Life Cycle. That's jargon for when a system has been developed, tested and launched. Oh wait, somebody has to train those darn users, right?

Over the years, I've volunteered teaching adult learners whenever possible. I enjoy teaching those who want to learn.

I picked Excel because it is the tool that I'm most comfortable with. If I don't know something, there's plenty of information on the web to help sort it out.

This then is a blog about talking, discovering  and learning with those newly arrived at the shores of Microsoft Excel. Allow me to provide some guidance.
